WIP Wednesday

i really seem to be on a roll so far this year, which is a good thing, really, as i know from past experience that i'll trail off at the end of the year!

so far this year, i've already finished FIVE WIPs!!!!! i'm pretty excited about that.  sadly, the baby quilt i finished last week, when washed with two similarly colored cat mats AND a color catcher, still ended up with some staining from bleeding on the pink areas.  i didn't catch it before drying, so now i'm trying to get the stains out by soaking in that miracle worker Oxi-Clean!  hopefully it works!

here are the two cat mats i finished on sunday:

My creation

last night i finished up WIP #5 for the year, but i'll show that to you on friday.  i also started working on #6.

whilst doing more cleaning and organizing last weekend, i came across this finished quilt top, as well as a set of similar blocks ready to be sewn together.  since one of my goals for this year is to practice my FMQ, this quilt gives me the opportunity to do just that!  i dug into my stash and found some solid blue to use for binding and most of the backing, though i'll have to insert a strip along one edge of the back for it to be large enough.  (bonus - using up another 1.5 yds of stash fabric!)

baby boy construction quilt top

tonight i hope to get the top basted and then on to some FMQ!

i think i'm going to try something completely different this time: etch and sketch from The Free Motion Quilting Project.  i thought this design would translate pretty well into the rail fence sections of my blocks, which would also give me some "guidelines" to help me keep things in order.

Wow you really are getting so busy so fast this year!
Fun fabric on the cat mats. Good for you working on the fmq, I need to work on that, too.

Good luck on getting the pink out of your quilt. I used Oxiclean last year with good success. Here is my post about it: http://eveninginthegarden.wordpress.com/2012/09/14/the-baseball-quilt/
