Week 3's project for the Zakka 2.0 sewalong from Patchwork, Please! by Ayumi Takahashi is a tea cozy and pocket pouch to carry tea bags on the go. since i don't drink hot tea, i initially thought i'd skip this week. . . . then i had an "aha!" moment . . .TEA is an anagram for EAT! shocking, i know.
since the paperpiecing patterns Ayumi provided for the letters, T, E and A were so cute, i decided to use them to make a pair of napkins that say "EAT".
i had fun picking out fabrics to use for the letter blocks, and even discovered some text prints i had forgotten i had!
for the napkin above, i followed ayumi's lead and used a darker background, with lighter prints for the letters.
for this one, i reversed it.
i like both, so it worked out great! i also stitched around the edge of each with a decorative stitch in contrasting turquoise thread to give it an extra pop of color. the back side of these is a lizzie dish print i've been hoarding.
