Friday Finish
Denyse Schmidt was kind enough to provide the Houston Modern Quilt Guild with fabrics from her upcoming line, Florence, to be released in August, for a challenge.
Members were given fat eighths of various prints from the line and asked to create whatever they wished using the fabric, pairing it only with solid fabrics, and submit photos which could be used in marketing.
At first I struggled with what to make, but finally decided on a picnic set.
I used the majority of the fabric, combined with Moda Bella Zen Grey on the front and Kona Pepper on the back, to make a 45" by 63" picnic quilt. The leftovers went to a pair of patchwork napkins and a patchwork pouch to hold small plates, flatware and other small items for a picnic.
when i got ready to take pictures of the quilt, i noticed that one of the seams in the backing had come apart in the wash, so I had to patch it. Kitten was instrumental in getting this done!
Perhaps a picnic should be on my agenda for this weekend!

I love how the quilt turned out. And the full set looks so lovely together!
