i'm really excited about this month's finish! almost two years ago i decided M and i needed a quilt for our bed. this coincided with my joining several virtual bees on flickr. one of the bees i joined was the fresh modern bee 2. my month to have blocks made for me was june (2010!), and so i picked some fabrics and ran the color scheme by M for his approval. i decided on shades of lime green, and picked a simple string block as my pattern. i also whipped up a demo block to show my fellow bees what i wanted.
i got back approximately 24 lovely, lovely blocks . . . which then sat, untouched, until 2012. when safieh proposed co-hosting this challenge to me and i agreed, i knew that this quilt would have to be my march finish so that it could serve as an anniversary present to M for our fourth wedding anniversary.
i had to make eight more blocks to get the quilt to the size i wanted, but i was able to get them made, piece a backing, and get it to the longarmer on march 12th. erin got it quilted and back to me on march 23, and i spent this week sewing on the binding.
M arrived home from working on a job out of state on the night of March 29, our anniversary, to find this:
