Quilty Catch-Up

last weekend i went home and took my mom her mother's day quilt. it's made from fabrics she bought for me about eight years or so ago. all i had to buy was the solid pink border fabric, plus, of course, batting and backing. anyway, i'd had the fabrics in my stash and never used them, and they're not really my thing. but i remembered that she liked them, so when i wanted to try out elizabeth hartman's new wave pattern, i thought of these fabrics, because i had a number of coordinates from the same line. i didn't have enough to make the full pattern, so i modified to use the fabric i had. it finished at roughly 36" by 52", so it's perfect for a lap quilt while mom watches tv or reads. she loved it!

i hadn't sewn since i got back, but yesterday i got two packages of quilty goodness in the mail: one from wendy for scrap happy bee and one from donna for red and aqua bee 2. i immediately went to work on wendy's blocks. she sent a focus fabric for us to use to make log cabin blocks using certain colors from our own scraps and stashes. here are my two blocks:

i got both blocks whipped up, then when i got online to post my pics, i realized i had gotten her log cabin block confused with what donna had asked for! which means this morning i whipped up two more blocks, the right way this time!

i'm supposed to be working from home today, but i really, really don't feel motivated. what i'm working on it particularly boring, my house is a mess, and M is coming home tonight after being gone for work all week. i have to go out of town for work on tuesday, and then he's gone the next week, so we won't have a lot of time together in the near future. all that to say, i should at least have a halfway clean house for him to come home to! if i just got off my butt, i could unload the dishwasher, reload it and clean out the sink, throw in a load of laundry (unidentified kitteh threw up the biggest hairball i've ever seen on a blanket on the loveseat this morning!), and just generally tidy up in less than an hour.

well then. i guess that's that. off to make my house presentable again! i'll post pics of the "new" blocks for wendy later tonight.

The quilt for your mom is pretty. What a nice gift for her. I am joining you in the modern swap, so just popped in to say hi and "follow"!

I love the colours you used for the new wave quilt. Ive brought the pattern and think I may have a go, as soon as I have made your blocks though!

Just received my check for $500.

Sometimes people don't believe me when I tell them about how much you can get by taking paid surveys online...

So I took a video of myself actually getting paid $500 for filling paid surveys to finally set the record straight.
