amazingly, i do actually sew around here, not just make lists!
one night this week, i was itching to sew, but didn't want to work on any of my current projects. i pulled out two minicharm packs of Circa 1934 that i got at the Houston Modern Quilt Guild retreat in May 2012.
i stitched the charms into nine nine-patch blocks, and sewed those together into three rows of three blocks each.
i basted this patchwork section to a piece of batting with spray baste and quilted it in a simple grid pattern with diagonal lines through the blocks.
i had previously purchased a half yard of one of the coordinating prints, because i had intended all along to make a cushion cover from the mini charms. it took me a while to find the piece, but i also found another coordinate i'd purchased, too.
i made the back using those two prints, and installing a hidden zipper behind a flap.
to keep the cushion cover from being too plain, i also made and sewed in a piping around the edge. the fabric is a Benartex print of offwhite scribbles on black in a kind of clamshell design that went well with the Circa 1934. While I had enough of the black numerals on cream used on the back zipper flap, i though a black piping looked better.
now all i have to do is run to Jo-Ann later to get a pillow form to put inside.
